dance-movement
To dance with life is to meet each moment with presence, flexibility and an open heart. It is an invitation to move with—rather than against—the natural rhythms of our experience. In dance-movement this is how we learn to listen to the body’s rhythms, to soften around tension, and to move with the ebb and flow of experience. Instead of pushing through life, we begin to move with it, finding more steadiness, aliveness and connection along the way.
My Dance-Movement philosophy is rooted firmly in my experience as a Biodanza facilitator, and all my dance offerings are deeply informed by this. An important principle of this approach is that life is sacred and is an organising force of the Universe. The most important actions in life are those that nurture a recognition of this sacredness. In dance, we honour this principle through cultivating and experiencing wellbeing on a deep, personal, bodily level.
My approach to Dance-Movement also incorporates the following practices and principles:
Somatic movement
The soma is our inner bodymind experience and somatic movement is about becoming more fluent in sensing, moving and feeling from within.
Mindfulness
Slowing down, inhabiting and embodying more moments of our life; meeting our experience with openness and curiosity.
Self-Compassion
Kindness is at the heart of the practice, and we explore embodied ways to hold space for ourselves lovingly.
Nervous system regulation
Recognising that the body holds stress and tension; practices for letting go, regulating, resting and bringing ease.
