Some early work (1996 – 2001)… I spent the first six months of 1996 helping out at Ardmore Ceramic Studio in Natal. It was here that my passion for low fired, brightly coloured and richly patterned surfaces was born. Coming to live in Cape Town and joining Barbara Jackson’s studio, resulted in a body of hand-built coiled and slab vessels in low-fired terracotta, with commercially produced glazes and very intricately carved, impressed and incised surfaces.
