My approach to embodiment

Embodiment is not simply becoming aware of the body.

It is the practice of bringing awareness into direct relationship with lived experience through the body.

The body provides a doorway into the present moment through sensation, movement, breath, emotion, and felt experience. By attending to these experiences, we cultivate greater awareness, self-regulation, connection, and presence.

Embodiment is also the movement from concept to experience. It is the difference between knowing something intellectually and knowing it in one’s bones.

At its heart, embodiment asks: What happens when we allow ourselves to experience the body as it is, rather than as we think it should be? How do we meet and inhabit what is already here?

What all my approaches share is that they are technologies for cultivating embodiment and working skillfully and gently with what inhibits  or makes embodiment challenging.
