somatics
Clinical somatics is a self-sensing movement practice that works directly with the nervous system. It retrains habitual patterns of muscular contraction so as to offer a clear pathway out of chronic tension, stiffness and pain.
This gentle yet powerful movement practice can offer you the skills and inner tools to
- release and alleviate chronic muscle tension and pain.
- manage stress as it accumulates in your body.
- experience deep rest, relaxation and ease of being.
Somatic movements are practised slowly and with awareness, allowing the brain to re-establish healthy movement patterns and invite muscles and fascia to return to their healthy tone. This process, known as neuromuscular re-education, helps to undo deeply held tension.

mindfulness
The starting point for deep healing is awareness.
Without awareness, we operate on automatic pilot and struggle to interrupt our habitual ways of being and doing. Mindfulness is a body-based practice that teaches us to cultivate this awareness. A skill that can be learned and practiced through meditation and in daily life, it teaches us, through direct experience, to work skilfully with our bodies and minds.
When you begin a mindfulness practice you are invited to slow down, to learn to pay attention with care, and to begin to be with whatever arises in the moment with more ease. You grow your capacity to meet pain gently and with spaciousness. The development of these inner skills impacts directly and significantly on your experience of stress and pain.
Mindfulness shifts our experience of our experiences.

holistic pain recovery
Explore mind-body solutions for persistent pain and other chronic symptoms
When pain persists and traditional medical solutions bring no resolution or relief, it may be time to explore a different understanding. Did you know that your experience and onset of pain is influenced by much more than physical injury or damage? Pain is a whole-person experience—a signal from the nervous system that something feels unsafe.
Chronic pain can be traced to an over-sensitised brain and nervous system stuck in protection mode. Over time, the brain begins to misinterpret harmless sensations as dangerous, keeping pain active even when the body is safe. This heightened sensitivity creates patterns that amplify and sustain the pain cycle.
Stress, emotions, past experiences, and patterns of overdoing or self-pressure all contribute to this state of ongoing alert. The good news is that through awareness, education, and compassionate self-care, it is possible to calm the nervous system, to restore a sense of inner safety, and to open the door to healing.
This way of working with the nervous system naturally extends to other chronic symptoms that may arise from similar patterns of sensitivity in the nervous system, for example: IBS, migraine, pelvic pain, central sensitization syndromes, fibromyalgia, chronic musculoskeletal pain and unexplained or lingering symptoms: persistent pain after injuries have healed.

dance-movement
Dance is so much more than movement—it’s an expression of play, creativity, and vibrant joy! It allows us to connect deeply with our emotions, release pent-up tensions, nurture self-expression and reclaim the energy and vitality that life has to offer.
If you’re curious about integrating your mind, body and heart through movement, dance might be just what you’re looking for…. And if pain or fear of movement has been holding you back, gentle and safe dance offers a powerful way to overcome these barriers.

yoga nidra deep rest practice
Yoga Nidra offers a doorway into deep, effortless rest. Lying down and usually guided, you’re invited to do less and feel more — to soften out of doing, fixing and striving. Here, the nervous system unwinds, the body releases held tension, and the mind begins to settle. For those working with pain, stress or fatigue, the practice of Yoga Nidra can powerfully complement somatic movement — a space where healing doesn’t come from effort, but from allowing.

ceramics
I have been working with clay for more than 30 years—an ongoing exploration, a living alchemy. While for many years I ran a small-scale production studio, Lisa Firer Design, I have returned to being a solo artist, creating ceramics alongside my work supporting peoples’ healing.
My ceramics are made with love and patience, aligning with the increasing appreciation in our world for thoughtfully crafted, handmade objects. My passion for this miraculous material is embedded in each piece, creating a silent dialogue between maker and recipient—a conversation through clay.

The somatic micro-movements you taught me basically eliminated back pain for me! I’d struggled with it for many years and those movements really changed my life. They improved my body intelligence and my body-mind connection. It’s an absolutely wonderful modality, I’m a true believer.
