Finding you (April 2006), a collaborative exhibition between ceramic artists and fine artists was a very significant exhibition for me as it ignited a real passion and interest in collaborative work. Working together with another artist has taken me out of the sometimes lonely journey of art-making, into dialogue and a shared process of making meaning. Working cross-materially has allowed me to get close to media I am not familiar with and perhaps have not had courage to explore in my own work. I have also seen my own working process through the eyes of someone else, not bound by the knowledge and rules of clay work and this has led to new ways of engaging with the material and new working possibilities.

Lyndi and I first worked together on Finding You. We immediately found resonance between her delicate work with cut-out paper and light boxes and my fine embossed porcelain. We created Flock (porcelain and paper birds, Hollard Contemporary Collection and subsequently other suspended commissions. I have used her etchings on porcelain lights for Greenhouse: From Painting to Plastics, Bell-Roberts Gallery @ Lourensford, Oct 2007.

Materials: Porcelain and paper
